drug addiction and withdrawl?

Question by syf2241: drug addiction and withdrawl?
about 3 months ago i was in a car accident that resulted in me having two herniated disks in my lower back. For the pain I have been prescribed many drug ranging from muscle relaxers to anti-inflammatorys and opiates. I have tried many things but nothing compares to the relief as the Hydrocodone especially after cortisone injection which I have gotten two so far. So basically I have been on 7.5 mg of hydrocodone almost daily for 3 months. I have come to realize that I am addicted to the drugs and do sometimes abuse them the problems is my use is not just cause I am seeking to get high but its trying to rid the pain. Basically my question is does anyone know how bad the withdrawal is going to be because I am planing to get off the drugs this week, and are there any tips to help deal with it. Also does anyone know of any medication that compares to the relief of painkillers the problems with my back are still a big problem and does not appear to be going away any time soon.

The withdrawal should not be that bad actually. I mean it will not be pleasant at all, but it won’t be near as bad if you were on something more pure than hydrocodone, like roxycodone. probably 2-3 days of feeling pretty shitty, aches, restlessness, you might puke and/or have diarrhea. Motrin, tylenol, aspirin helps, and if you have something for sleep you might want to take it(ambien, valium, xanax, lunesta) cuz not sleeping really sucks when dt’ing. But I would advise definitely getting off NOW. Cuz the addiction will only get worse, believe me, I know. Also, stay hydrated! Very important.
