Drug Abuse – Harm Reduction Strategy

After a brief exchange with someone who suggested drug legalization, I was inspired to upload this video. Some illegal drugs most likely should be legalized, however there are many drugs that are illegal for good reason. Some are highly addictive and dangerous, and due to the extremely deleterious effect that drugs like crack cocaine have on the user and society we have a vested interest in prohibiting their distribution. It makes sense to punish distributors. However punishing the drug user is not the answer, it is an illogical action that can often perpetuate and facilitate future substance abuse. I propose that Drug Addiction is a medical condition and should be treated, not punished.
