Dothan Bomb Squad Dispatched to Meth Lab on Iris Road

HOUSTON COUNTY: Houston County Sheriff’s Deputies conducted an early morning search of a shed near a trailer on the 2100 block of Iris Road (near Eddins Road and US231 South). The search was for a meth lab, which they discovered. During the search, a suspicious device which has been characterized as a “hand grenade” was found. Deputies believed the device is inert, but the Dothan Bomb Squad was called to make sure the device did not pose a threat, or to dispose of it if it did. The bomb squad is now on scene along with Rehobeth Fire and Rescue. A 500 yard safety perimeter has been set up, and trailers located near the site have been evacuated.
