Does this sound like a personality disorder? Which one?
Question by oldweirdhoss: Does this sound like a personality disorder? Which one?
I’m confused as to what these symptoms would be classified as:
A person who hates being around people because he feels unsatisfied and unhappy with most social interactions, but is also desperately lonely and craves a person/people that can make them happy.
Also has poor social skills, eccentricity, and substance abuse tendencies.
And is very picky in relationships; only wants to be with someone he’s physically attracted to. If there’s no physical attraction, refuses more than just a friendship. Desperately wants a girlfriend though. Is very frustrated with his own limitations and shallowness, but doesn’t know how to change.
I’m curious about this person I know; also interested because I can sort of relate to some of his tendencies myself.
I’m confused by that set of symptoms; it sounds to me like a blend of different personality disorders; some of the tendencies resemble Asperger’s as well. What disorder do those symptoms sound like?
