Does this seem right?
Question by liibit59: Does this seem right?
Wow. This is going to be long. So. I really wanted a laptop for Christmas. It was originally the only thing on my list. But then I changed it because I knew I wouldn’t get one. I didn’t just want one because they appear cool. I could do homework and stuff on it. Not to mention my room is extremely cold even with a heater on. I could sit in my living room and do stuff. But no. I couldn’t convince my dad. They’re ‘too expensive’. He told me he will help me get one. This is how he was going to “help” me: I save up all of the money is costs to buy a new one, and he will go and pick it up for me. UGH.
New Section of the story:
My brother quit public school to take online classes. Of course he needs a computer for that. He already had one. Everything was fine and dandy. He purchased RAM for it like.. a year ago. It worked and whatever. Well, he just bought more RAM and Vista to put on it. His DVD/CD drive didn’t work. My dad was supposed to buy him a new one today. (Might I add, mine is broken too, but I will never get a new drive). My brother was messing with his computer last night and it quit working. He waited until today, for my dad to get home from work, to look at it. Apparently it crashed. I came home from school and saw my brother’s monitor on the kitchen table. My dad told me that my brother’s computer had crashed. He then told me that he bought a new computer for him. I was soo mad. I was supposed to get the monitor while my brother got a new computer. I acted like a total biatch to them both. My dad claimed, “He starts school tomorrow, so he needed a new one.” I got sick of standing there and listening to them. So I went into my room. Just before I got into my room, my brother said something about me acting like a biatch. This part is really shocking: I told him, “Of course I am. You get a brand new computer and I don’t get shit!” I have never cussed in front of my dad before. A few hours after all of that happened, My dad came in and asked if I wanted food. Like Jesus, do you seriously think I want to talk to him? He appears to be so clueless. I am soooooo mad at them both. I don’t know what to do. I am not talking to them. Did I make the wrong choice on what I said? I’m not sure. Please help me.
You’re right. But it’s only right that if he gets a new one, I should get a laptop. I am 14, I cannot legally work without a working permit. Plus, I don’t live in the city. There are no jobs around here. For you information, At the moment I am wearing a jacket and am still cold.
David, that helped some. The bad part is.. he could certainly afford it. It would make we feel bad if my brother got a used one, but it was brand new. He just doesn’t see a reason to buy a laptop when I have a desktop. My desktop is a piece of crap most of the time. I totally understand your point of view. I’ll be going to college in a few years. My brother will be too. Luckily, I’ll be getting scholarships. I’ll look for used laptops, but I am almost certain it will not help on my part.

parents arent obligated to buy you anything. if its that big a deal, get a job and buy your own laptop.
and if your room is cold, put a sweater on. that normally helps.
