Does the show on Fox called Lie to Me contain legitimate facts?

Question by i♥cod4: Does the show on Fox called Lie to Me contain legitimate facts?
Facts such as having instant cold hands in the presence of intense fear because blood flows to the extremeties such as the legs in the response to flee in the “fight or flight mechanism” and another fact such as a hand being on your forehead expresses shame or guilt. Another is if you know something, an answer your eyebrows go up or if you have a fake smile your eyebrows don’t move but if it’s real they do. Are all these “facts” from the show true and is this show based off real facts that I can repeat or is it purely entertainment?

Hey, I just saw that episode! I think it is fairly accurate, and I’ve actually noticed this kind of thing in people before. It makes sense, and it probably is accurate. I’m no expert, though.

Yes, it does–well if you believe in Ekman’s works. If you visit the shows official site you will see that the series is based on research conducted by Dr. Paul Ekman. Ekman has made theories in which he tells us of what certain facial expressions mean, what body language is really trying to tell us, and how our minds and bodies react to what we feel. Having studied his research, my personal belief is that these reactions can be explained by science and are reliable.
