Do you think my upbringing had anything to do with my addiction?
Question by Physik: Do you think my upbringing had anything to do with my addiction?
My mom raised me to be free and independent of chemicals, even caffeine. As a kid I wasn’t allowed to have even a Coca-Cola because it had caffeine and she didn’t want me drinking it. She was incredibly harsh in disallowing me from drinking coffee or Coke or anything like that.
And despite all of it here I am at 16 years old, and addicted to or using
LSD
Marijuana
Ecstasy
Cocaine
GHB
Mushrooms
Ketamine
Nitrous
Heroine
and Salvia
Do you think the way she raised me had any effect on me?
for those of you who are posting on here like I’m trying to blame someone, I blame no-one but me and my dealers. I’m just looking for a psychological reason as to why I did all this.

In my opinion, dependency on the substances that you list have more to do with filling a void, or need, within yourself. When you understand that every behavior we have suits a purpose and then you ask yourself, “What do I gain or benefit from using these substances?”, you can begin to find the answer to your question.
