Do you or someone you know have Hepatitis C? What is the BEST treatment for it right now?

Question by Skye: Do you or someone you know have Hepatitis C? What is the BEST treatment for it right now?
I have it. I haven’t been treated for it yet. I was wondering what the best treatment for it is. Cost isn’t really much of an issue. I’m scared of being sick and losing my hair but I heard that this isn’t always true. I’m an otherwise healthy 36 year old woman. I got it from probably a contaminated needle since I was an intravenous drug user. Is it true that it is hard to get just from regular sex? I’d like to talk to someone else that has it. I’m also scared to death of having a liver biopsy ’cause you have to be awake. Thanks for any help or information that you have. Anything helps! Oh, is there a website that keeps you up-to-date on new treatments and information like that?

“”raising my hand”” I had it, treated it and now its gone.

Cost isn’t an issue? honey..marry me! Kidding..its $ 3500 a month..if you don’t have insurance and can prove you can’t afford it the phamacuticles will give it to you for free.

The best treatment and the only treatment available in the US approved by whoever approves this stuff is
Interferon and ribovarian..its a once a week shot and pills taken twice a day

I had TWO biopsies..the first one in ’94 wasn’t so great but the second one in ’05 was nothing…they numbed my liver before they took a small peice.

HCV is NOT an STD..its a 5%sexual transmission. Keep in mind its a blood2blood disease. Avoid ruff sex or use a condom. Neither of my husbands contracted it from me and I wasn’t diagnoised until 1/2 way threw my second marriage.

Your worring about the things you shouldn’t. Yes your hair will THIN out..not fall out like a chemo patient.

You have your age going for you. I did treatment when I was 51..the earlier you treat the easier it is on you.
