Do people ever gain weight when they quit drinking?

Question by Tehshi: Do people ever gain weight when they quit drinking?
I cut way back on my drinking and I’m on my way to quiting. I eat and eat. At first I thought it was because I recently got over a cold, but the hunger isn’t going away. Has anyone else ever got this?

usually people lose weight when they quit drinking. Alcohol has TONS of calories in it (heavy drinkers can consume thousands of calories of alcohol in one sitting). Plus, alcohol makes you crave greasy foods.. which people stop eating when they arent so drunk.

My suggestion is to cut your portion sizes in half. Even if your eating like crap (cheeseburgers and ice cream). Cut the portions in half. Eat half the cheeseburger, put it in the fridge, and eat the rest for dinner later. Same goes for the fries, sandwiches, ice cream…. just cut it all in HALF (and eat the other half for another meal later)
