Did You Know About These Drugs in our Drinking Water?

 

We have known about the problem of drugs in our drinking water for quite some time now.

 

Well, at least scientists and other authorities have known about drugs found in US drinking water.

They seem to have found it prudent to keep their latest findings from us for a period of time.

 

I’m not quite sure why they chose to be secretive about the discovery of drugs in our drinking water.

It’s not that we didn’t already know about the plethora of contaminants that we already faced, so why should this be any different?

Another set of chemicals in our water supply is almost par for the course.

 

When asked about the drugs found in US drinking water the water authority figures stated that the drugs didn’t pose any danger to the people.

This statement was based on the fact that the pharmaceuticals were only available to us in “harmless” trace amounts.

Maybe they simply don’t consider the public to be intelligent enough to figure out the truth.

 

We know that drugs in our drinking water pose a very real threat to our health and well being.

It’s not the trace amount of an individual drug or chemical that is the problem.

It’s the fact that there are numerous chemicals interacting with one another that makes this a crisis.

 

When the drugs found in US drinking water mix with each other, or other chemicals such as chlorine, the threat grows exponentially.

The chemicals all feed off one another, growing rapidly in strength.

The Environmental Protection Agency only measures safe levels of a chemical agent individually.

 

This means that they are basing the measurement of each chemical as if it were the only contaminant present.

While it is true that taking in only a trace amount of one of the drugs in our drinking water would probably not pose any health risk, it is the fact that we may be consuming a dozen or more of these pharmaceuticals at a sitting that is dangerous.

 

So, how did the drugs found in US drinking water get there in the first place?

Well, you and I are at least a little at fault, although there was absolutely nothing that we could do to stop it.

When we take prescription drugs only a portion of the drug is used by our bodies for healing, and the rest is excreted through our urine back into the wastewater system.

 

We are not the conscious ones at fault for the drugs in our drinking water though, the pharmaceutical companies and those in the medical profession are.

It is standard practice at hospitals and pharmacies to flush outdated drugs down the toilet.

This is the disposal method recommended by the pharmaceutical companies.

 

If everyone had simply used their heads and acted responsibly, we wouldn’t have such a large scale crisis over drugs found in US drinking water.

Nobody involved wants to be held accountable for their mistakes though.

So, that leaves us searching for a way to protect ourselves from this obvious health risk.

 

So what do we as individuals do to protect ourselves?

 

Until there is a solution found to the problem, I would advise everyone to rush out and purchase the best home drinking water filter system that you can find.

Nobody knows what the long term effects of having drugs in our drinking water will be.
