Dairy withdrawal. Is it just me or could it be all psychological.?

Question by Anthony: Dairy withdrawal. Is it just me or could it be all psychological.?
Has anyone experienced withdrawal symptoms from giving up dairy. I have always been a vegetarian, as on 12/29/2012 I converted to veganism. I consider myself to be a fit and active person. The last two days while working out I feel less energized, and have some trouble going to sleep at night. These are problems I have never experienced while consuming dairy. I became vegan for humane reasons. I have heard some people saying this is a “detox from dairy withdrawal” any advice or comments will be helpful.

I loved cheese, it was my favorite food. I decided to be healthier and quit cheese cold turkey. Things went downhill from there. I got depressed , causing me to be inactive and not want to do anything! And sleeping changes as well, and very irritable. Believe it or not, dairy products have a type of opiate in them that cause you to be dependant on it and not even realize it. Once you stop getting it, you get a little withdrawal-like feeling for a while. For me, I decided to taper off slowly as I would taper off an antidepressant. It definitely decreased the effects of quitting dairy.

Hope this helps!

Dairy has casomorphins were are like a drug to your brain. It seems like it was intended for the baby so that they would stay close to mom and her milk.

This guy explains it better than I can:

Don’t worry too much. it’ll pass eventually. In the meantime, you can load up on soy, rice, almond, hemp, oat, walnut, flax, coconut, cashew, grain, or sunflower milk.
