Curing Drug Addiction

Being addicted to a substance is something which is very hard to get over, especially if it is a drug. Drugs create a sense of temporary satisfaction to the user, and once the effects are gone, the user’s body does not function normally. The user feels restless and starts experiencing all kinds of pain without the effects of the drug. When he craves for more of the substance in order to get rid of the pain and get rid of his aggression, it is known as physical addiction. This is the hardest known form of addiction to cure.

The main reason for being addicted to a drug is because the chemicals in it create a sense of pleasure for the user. The brain already has chemicals known as neurotransmitters which send out signals for different emotions. The neurotransmitter which triggers the feeling of pleasure is known as dopamine. Whenever someone eats food or experiencing a feeling of pleasure, the chemical dopamine is released in the brain. Many drugs contain this chemical and create an artificial release of this chemical in the brain. This is why the substance is liked by the user in the first place. But it is not the cause of the addiction. Addiction is caused because this artificial release of dopamine and other neurotransmitters actually numbs the genuine release of the chemical when no drugs are taken. Thus, the user feels dull throughout and only feels pleasure when he takes the substance.

Another important thing you need to consider before finding an addiction cure is the type of drug being used by the addict. “Class A” drugs cause more damage to the body and are said to be more addictive. These include drugs like cocaine, heroin, MDMA and LSD, which have a greater effect on the brain and release more chemicals in it. For a “class A” drug user, the right addiction cure will include a complete detoxification course (with painkillers), followed by some time spent at a good rehabilitation center.

One must understand this whole process when finding a drug addiction cure for a family member. Without understanding what goes on inside the addict’s brain and body before you can find the best addiction cure. Also, you must find the right rehabilitation center that has good experience with different types of users in order to help your loved one better.

Marianas Trench – Lover Dearest

At a concert, Josh was telling us about is addiction to heroin when he was 15, 16 and 17.He told us that in rehab, he wrote this as a letter to his drug. I was touched by his speech and the song, and i decided to make a video to it. I can only hope that someone will see this, and remember this when they are offered drugs. Or someone with an addiction already will reach out for help. If you do have an addiction or an eating disorder, tell someone you trust even if its only one person. Its so much stronger if you keep it to yourself.
