In Crackhead: Inside the Crack Game (Paperback, September 2004, Author House Publishing),
Author David Franklyn Bowens, has tapped into the main vein of the not often told secrets of the urban streets, through three real life stories in his trilogy novel Crackhead: Inside the Crack Game. Bowens writes from his own experiences as a former crack addict, and takes the reader on a first hand odyssey into the world of crack addiction from the addictÂs point of view. Crackhead is informative as well as intriguing and entertaining. Readers will gain knowledge and experience through Bowens gritty and graphic writings.
Bowens breaks his book Crackhead: Inside the Crack Game into three stories that deal with the perils of crack addition and how it touches the lives of people from different walks of life, ranging from a successful businessman to an entertainer, and how crack cocaine affected their livelihood to the point of their eventual fall from grace.
Crackhead: Inside the Crack Game, also informs readers that are strangers to the drug, of the physical and social affects that it has on its users and our society. Skillfully written, the three stories in this trilogy are entertaining as well as graphically compelling.
When asked why he chose the subject of crack addiction as the subject of his book, Bowens says, ÂThe first thing that people ask when they discover that I was a crack addict is: ÂWhat goes on in a crackhouse? or ÂWhy is crack cocaine so addictive? So, I decided to answer their questions in print and tell the real story from the point of view of the people that use this destructive drug and participate in the lifestyle that comes with it. Crack has no color line or age limit, it upsets the lives of everyone involved, whether you are directly or indirectly connected as a user, non-user, dealer or you have a relationship with a crack addict, it will destroy your lives.Â
David Franklyn Bowens was born and raised in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
