Could my husband get his dads inherited land back on a verbal contract gone bad?

Question by Apple Juice: Could my husband get his dads inherited land back on a verbal contract gone bad?
My husbands father inherited a large piece of land from his father. He went to jail on meth charges, and so he wouldn’t get the property seized, he signed it over to his cousin , and his cousin promised to give it back when he got out of jail. This was a verbal agreement which does hold up in court, my husband, husband’s brother, husbands mother who is long seperated from the dad, and my husbands step father are all witness to this verbal agreement. Anyways this land was in his father’s name, but it was meant for the two sons to have, my husband, and his brother. So when the dad got out of jail, the cousin refused to give the land back. This happened I would say 8 years ago. The cousin has since built his own house on the land and has been living there for a long time. Would we be able to get the land back in court? BTW the cousin is of no relation to the grandparents that the land originally belonged to. The land was supposed to be for the two underaged grandchildren, but well the dad was addicted to drugs and lost it.
