Can you use “Free File” from irs.gov to file your taxes if you’re a small business?
Question by sobefobik: Can you use “Free File” from irs.gov to file your taxes if you’re a small business?
I live in Washington state and have earned income from there. Most of my business though is in Oregon, and I have to file state taxes with them. It’s complicated and I want to make sure that I can file with “free file.”

You sure can.
Just have all your documentation handy so you can enter it all.
Here’s how:
1. go to www.irs.gov
2. click the free file link
3. choose a company or software from the huge list that pops up
4. read carefully and follow the directions. I used the Tax Cut one from Block and it worked very well. It has diagnostics and so on, so that you will be less likely to file with incorrect information.
Before I did my taxes online, I printed out the forms and did a “dry run” with a pencil at my desk, filling in all the blanks, so that I’d have a good idea of what it would come out to, when I e-filed.
