Can someone be arrested for attempting suicide?

Question by Peter: Can someone be arrested for attempting suicide?
I know that it is illegal to cause an obstruction to something public in the US; thats why marijuana is illegal. However will someone who attempts to jump off a building merely to kill himself but is stopped by the police be subject to crime and punishment? ( I speak out of curiousity and not for personal reasons)
P.S. when I say crime and punishment, i dont mean rehab or community service, but time in jail or prison?

It depends on if they were causing a danger to the public in their actions.
Also to get to the roof of most places except your own would mean you would be to some extent trespassing or in an area you would have to bust a door to get to so criminal damage also.
But most of these charges would not be persued due to the mental state of someone who wants to die anyway.
