Question by rome_spqr: can heavy marijuana use trigger a manic episode?
my brother has never had a manic bipolar episode (or any other mental issues), but recently showed the symptoms of a manic episode. we also found out he was using marijuana heavily over the past few weeks.

No I doubt marijuana in itself would cause that. Marijuana is a depressant if anything. However this drug is commonly mixed with other ones that might cause some crazy effects.
