Can Crystal Meth lead to Schizophrenia? and Can Meth use result in death?
Question by Carpe Diem: Can Crystal Meth lead to Schizophrenia? and Can Meth use result in death?
My mom has been on meth for over ten years, she has all the symptoms of a schizophrenic, she has hallucinations and tells me about them like they really happened. She comes up with stories that are not possible. For example, she seen her friends head appear on my grandfathers body. She thinks she can read animal’s minds, she seen maggots appear in her noodles, and she came up with some lady named mona who is “the whore of all harlets” whatever that mean. She even has an address where this so called mona lives. I went there and theres no such person. She tells me weird stories about mona having sex for money. as bad as this may sound, i think the stories actually reflect what she is doing. She was sober for about 8 months, got a job, but got fired for taking food (she worked at a deli) and all of a sudden she started acting abnormal Thats when i knew something was wrong. She doesnt see anything wrong with using the drug. she denies her addiction. how do you cure someone like her? She looks like a skeleton when i see her. it brings me to tears. i fortunately don’t live with her anymore because we were literally fist fighting.

From what I understand meth affects dopamine in the brain. That same brain chemical is affected in schizophrenia sufferers. And of course meth use can result in death. I am very sorry.
