Can a person get over an addiction while being abused?

Question by None: Can a person get over an addiction while being abused?
My sister has a drug problem and she’s depressed. She is trying to beat it, but her husband continues to rape her. She drinks more. She had a restraining order, but it was dropped. It likes no one believes her. So she gets worse.

What happens when a person with any addiction gets sexual abused by the husband? Will she continue to get worse as a result of the addiction? We plan to move her to another state to get help.

She’s probably using the addiction as a coping mechanism. I doubt she’ll kick the addiction while being abused. She needs to deal with the abuse before she can truly recover, anyway.

Why is she still anywhere near this guy? Is he tracking her down and breaking in, or what? She needs to get to a battered women’s shelter, which are very secure. That way she can get help and be safe.

I just read through your other questions and I think it’s TOTALLY weird the way you ask questions from the point of view of a 15 year old and your ex husband. That is soo weird.
