Can a father that gave up his parental rights have that reversed?
Question by Jennifer: Can a father that gave up his parental rights have that reversed?
My friend was moving from one state (California) to another, but before he left he had “relations” with someone before he left. After about a year he got a call from an attorney stating they wanted him to do a DNA test because the girl he had relations with had a baby and the baby was taken off of her because she was on crystalmeth while pregnant with the child. He ended up being the father and was called by the foster parents asking him to give up his rights. At that time in his life he wasn’t able to take care of a child on his own and he was given the impression that the baby had health issues also. That it turn worried him more that he wouldn’t be able to care for the child. The foster parents told him after they were able to adopt the child that they would keep in contact with him reguarding the child. It has been over 2 years and the child is still not adopted and he has no contact with the child like he was promised. He is now in a better place in his life and is finding out things aren’t a happy place for his child. Is there anyway at all for him to get his rights to his child back at all?

Talk to the place in charge of placing his child in foster care. If that dosent work, talk to a lawyer about getting custody.
