I have been going to court for possession of cocaine. I have plead and went through most of the proceedings but now the judge is asking for a letter from my doctor to maintain my medical use of cannabis. He said specifically how he wants the letter to go and it goes something along the lines of this. “I acknowledge my patient has a cocaine problem and based on my exam I still believe that medical marijuana is a valid treatment.”
I am wondering if he specifically worded it like this because it is an impossible task, as every time I talk to my doctor about it he starts getting nervous and telling me about my rights, or that he has no proof that I used or had in my possession cocaine. Ultimately beating around the bush in every which way possible. So my question is can a doctor legitimately prescribe a medication while acknowledging a current or former drug problem?

If you have a drug problem he will not prescribe medical marijuana. He will not risk losing his license.
