I was listening to A Prince Among Thieves today, I started to think about when I read this thing on Detox supposedly being a concept album also. From what I remember the concept I read was to be about a kid selling drugs in the ghetto or something along those lines (similar to A Prince Among Theives’ concept). But the article I read was about it being ‘about a killer for hire going on vigilante justice “detox” missions to clean up the city.’ Which could’ve been a pretty interesting concept as well if it were done right. http://www.thelmagazine.com/TheMeasure/archives/2010/05/06/dr-dres-perpetually-delayed-detox-as-dr-seuss-y-rhyme
If he didn’t take so long to release the album which means it would’ve been fresh, it could have been a really good release with the right guest appearances. I mean Dre could still make some bangers back around ’04 and ’05, so if it were to be released back then I think it would’ve ended up being one of the better releases of the decade. And now, based on the singles and that fact that time has past it probably would’ve been a completely different album than it would’ve been if it were released then (considering we don’t know if it’s still going to be a concept album). What do you think though?
