Bay Minette Middle School Alabama Teacher Arrested for Falling Asleep in Class Alabama investigators are testing an unknown liquid and powder found on a Baldwin County teacher. Investigators say they found the substances on Bay Minette Middle School teacher Nick Pope while he was teaching…. Less than two weeks into the school year… Teacher Nick Pope is getting a lesson on the legal system. School leaders say he was helping another teacher, but then he fell asleep. Authorities came and questioned the twenty-five year old special education teacher. District leaders say this all happened in a seventh grade English class with students present. The report shows Pope was found with a prescription for Suboxone..it’s used to treat addiction to Opiates. They also say an unknown powdery substance and unknown liquid substance were in his possession. Our campuses are alcohol and drug free campuses and thats are expectations for employees and students as well and when any matter like this comes up it certainly deserves a full review. School spokesperson Terry Wilhite says Pope is on paid administrative leave pending the result of this investigation. Wilhite says this is Pope’s second year teaching. He also coaches football. I would get rid of him, thats just my opinion. Toni Hoffer’s younger cousin goes to the school. She says school’s should be a safe, drug free place.
