Question by DesiDani: At what point does alcoholism and drug addiction becomes a disease?
Is it when the user “himself” feels that he has a problem? Or is it when other people feel they have a problem? Plus why is it called a disease when it is at first a choice? You can’t usually choice to have a disease.
Note:
Plenty of people who have addictions in their family history don’t choice to take drugs or abuse alcohol. They don’t take it too the extreme.
Lady:
I’m not sure about that, because some children of addicts are extremely turned off by any use of drugs or alcohol. They are almost like tea toddlers
Ian:
I agree, I think socially people can become addicts. If a child is raised seeing their folks having a great time drinking, having a beer before work and after work, they are going to think that it is okay and that is going to imprint on them. Children are like sponges. Yet if they see the negative of it they will be scared of it.
