Ask an Addict Launches Web Site to Help Addicts and Their Family and Friends
Fredericksburg, VA (PRWEB) October 4, 2010
Ask An Addict announced today that it has launched a new web site (www.askanaddict.com) to help addicts and their family members, loved ones, and friends by providing an online meeting place where addicts and their family and friends can seek information, exchange stories, and get help from others that have experience with addiction, so that they can work on their sobriety together.
Commenting on the purpose of the addiction information and assistance web site, Matt LeRose, Founder and Owner of Ask An Addict, said, “While I am not an addict myself, I have been affected by addicts my whole life. The impact of these experiences made me seek out a place that could provide some answers to my questions. Unfortunately, I could not find the answers I was searching for, so it was clear that there was an opportunity to create something important and beneficial for others who might have similar questions. This is a place where people can come any time of the day or night, seven days of the week, and make a connection when they need it the most.”
The web site has a number of valuable features for members who sign up to this free site. Members can:
Create their own profile, including a section where they can write about themselves.
Add photo albums under their profile.
Post questions and leave comments or answers.
Chat with other members through a member chat area and perform email messaging within the site.
Offer up information in the Confessions section and the Creative Corner section.
Find help from other members or locate professionals through useful links.
Access more information through an In the News section, other sections that discuss addictions, and a useful links page.
Purchase addiction information through the site’s Recovery Store.
Matt LeRose added, “We are not doctors, we are not Alcoholics Anonymous, and we are not a treatment center. We are just average people who want to help others fight the battle that we have all been through. This makes the web site an ideal location to go for addicts and people who live with and love those struggling with sobriety to come together and find out about how to get sober, to ask why addicts do what they do, and to get support so they know that they are not alone.”
In further explaining the benefits of leveraging the virtual world of social networking for addiction support, Matt LeRose, noted, “The addiction and sobriety web site has been set up as a social networking hub because that provides the right type of environment so that addicts, professionals, and those connected to those with addiction issues can interact and share information. This way, it may be more comfortable for some who may not want to sit and face people they don’t know in a group meeting.”
The web site is also an excellent way for companies and professionals who specialize in addiction and sober living to reach their target audience.
