Aren’t hydros a very dangerous & addictive drug?

Question by Deandra: Aren’t hydros a very dangerous & addictive drug?
I recently found out that my gf takes hydros not to relieve pain but just bc she likes the “buzz” or “high”. But I know that this drug can be very dangerous once hooked on them. & I don’t know for sure but I think she’s snorting them. More than likely she’s been on them for a long time. She also smokes weed which I’m still a little iffy about.. But it’s A LOT less dangerous than this drug…. I’d rather her smoke weed than this. How do I handle this situation. I really care about her & I want her to stop taking this drug. It’s dangerous & once hooked it’s really hard to stop.

Hydrocodone is relatively mild among opioids, however all of them produce nearly the same physical addiction, and yes it is miserable to treat. I’m sorry to say it’s unlikely she will just stop on her own accord. Most people have to reach a point of crisis to even realize they have a problem. With opiate addiction, “there is no problem” — or so it seems, as long as you can get more opiates.
