anyone else have a hard time MENTALLY quitting smoking?
Question by texas red: anyone else have a hard time MENTALLY quitting smoking?
i quit smoking with the “help” of the nicatrol inhaler, altho i rarely use it b/c its just a tease-about 2 wks or so ago, maybe 3. anyway, i smoked for about 12 years straight anywhere from 1/2 pack to 1 1/2 packs a day (depending on the day). my husband quit cold turkey a few days later. within the same week my doc put me on an anti-anxiety med 1xday and then 1 “as needed”. i have always had anxiety issues even before i started smoking and addictions run in my family (of all kinds).
i guess my question is- has anyone else felt over whelmed mentally when they have quit? i really want to be done, not just for myself after seeing what my dads had to go thru the last year after smoking for 55 yrs, but for my son as well. he complains of the smoke and the smell, etc, etc. but mentally i could just break down at any moment sometimes. i would smoke to help manage stress-now i dont have that stress relief. i already work out on a regular basis and play reg. with my 3 high energy dogs and 1 kid.
the doc tells me it will pas it will just take some time. i chew gum like noones business and have always drank water like a fish. ive actaully lost a few pounds b/c i avoid-thats when i think about a cig the most, after i eat.
any suggestions would be helpful along with knowing that other people have gone thru and beat this. please tell me you people know what im talking about!!!
