Addiction craving reducing medications?

Has anyone ever tried craving reducing medications for alcohol/other drugs? I spoke with a counselor about them tonight for a friend of mine. She is against taking drugs as part of her recovery but I have heard about good results from studies.I was told that they allow the addict to think clearly and weigh the options of their picking up again….. Any idea on how effective they are, how long they need to be taken, or which ones work the best?

Hi! Well I am reading this on the 26th, so apparantly the questions been open for 2 days. I guess no one who goes on yahoo answers is an addict or knows one. Huh, go figure! I wanted to at least give you something to read so give me the best answer! By the way munchkin, I love you!
