Addiction and treatment?
Question by Follow-the-narrow-gate: Addiction and treatment?
So I am in drug treatment currently. I went there on my own will and thought it would help, because my last drug treatment was forced. In my last drug treatment I used and this drug treatment I am in now isn’t going as well as I thought.
The treatment I am in now has you do UAs, breath test when you are there and one on one treatment.
It is nice to have structure, because my last treatment didn’t do any of it. The only problem is that the more restricted I am.. the more I want to use and the less restricted I am (in my last intensive outpatient) I used too.
I know I want to get clean and sober.. I really do, but the fact of talking about drugs four times a week makes me uneasy and think more about drugs than ever.
Do you think it makes sense.
I DO WANT to get clean and sober, but it is so hard to when I am talking about drugs four times a week, because I start thinking about drugs all the time. It is all I can think about, because it is all I hear about.

Be honest with yourself – you were thinking about drugs all the time before you went to treatment. People there are just trying to help you learn how to deal with life without taking drugs – so naturally talking about drugs is part of the program. Talk to your primary about how talking about drugs is a trigger for you to think about using and maybe he/she can help you find a way to deal with that.
