I know that any dog is capable of attacking. And yes, this question is mainly directed to Pit Bulls and the owners of Pit Bulls. Or should I say “Pit Bull type dogs” since no one really knows what a Pit Bull is…..

I know that Pit Bulls have a high prey drive,ie small dogs, cats, etc. But any form of human aggression is unacceptable. That was for those who think I’m “ignorant”

Anyways, I’ve heard that the only time a Pit Bull will attack is because it was abused or has been used for dogfighting. I also heard that if you leave them on a chain, it makes them aggressive, which I place under the “abused” category. I agree with these statements 100%. My grandfather had a German Shepherd that he kept on a chain that was really mean and would bite anyone, except my grandfather.

I’ve also heard that untrained or unsocialized Pit Bulls will also be prone to attack someone. So, if you leave your Pit Bull outside, or caged up for a long period of time, they most likely will attack someone? I remember leaving a ton of dogs outside as a kid, most of them strays, some caged up with very little socializaion and not one of these dogs ever bit anyone, growled at anyone or showed any signs of human aggression. If they did, I guarantee my dad would have shot them on site, and we had everything from mixed breeds, labs, boxers, and great danes.

For instance, my neighbors have 3 dogs, two APBT’s and a black lab. When the 2 APBT’s escape from their yard, they growl and chase people back into their houses. They’ve chased me, my wife, and other neighbors. One of them even bit a little boy on the hand that was playing in his own yard. The black lab just walked around the neighborhood, never barked, never growled,nothing. All these dogs have the exact same upbringing. Well,actually, the neighbors sometimes let the Pit Bulls in the house and the lab always stays outside, so one could say the Pit Bulls have it a little better. This is for all the people that say Pit Bulls are just like any other dog.

I don’t like the breed, never have, never will. I will be waiting for answers.

Also, how about we answer my question without using the ATTS Temperament Testing excuse, nanny dog excuse,Pete the Pup, SGt Stubby, therapy dogs and stick to the topic at hand.
