Abreva for cold sores at 37 weeks?
Question by csbrownies77: Abreva for cold sores at 37 weeks?
My lips are itching; I can feel a cold sore coming. Is Abreva (Docosanol) safe to use while pregnant? Does it make a difference being this late in the pregnancy? Any home remedies that have worked for you (I do want to avoid drugs if possible)?
I am going to ask my doctor of course, but it’s past office hours so I figured I’d ask here for a preliminary analysis. 🙂 I just really want to get this zapped before my baby makes his arrival so the sooner I can start “treatment” the better. Thanks in advanced!

Its fine, but I found that it never worked for my cold sores. I always have gotten prescription zovirax pills or cream which work a lot better. My OB allowed the zovirax cream while pregnant, but not the pills.
