i’m working on a research paper, so i thought i’d ask a question on here for some opinions as to weather or not you think an Actual addiction to television exists

no, because your body does not become actually addicted to it or in need of it, like other drugs like heroin or nicotine. So it is not an addiction, it is a habit.
Habits and addictions have a fine line in between them because addictions become habits, but habits are not all addictions. Some habits are addictions and some are just habits. But again addiction and habits almost become the same thing at one point. When you feel you NEED to do something, it is no longer a habit, but an addiction. That is where the line is drawn. Just as there are gambling addictions, there are television addictions, but one must remember that there is a line between habit and addiction.
This line is often foggy as it is hard to diagnose even today.
If I were you i would focus on the pleasure center of the brain and how that interacts with addictions. I would assume all addictions stimulate the pleasure center.

I think there is. It’s an addiction when someone chooses to watch TV over being in contact with other people. The person can withdraw from others. The world of the television may be an escape so the person’ won’t have to face his or her own struggles. Good Luck with your research.
