A Drop in the Ocean; Chapter three (Part one)

Comments are appreciated. 🙂 —— Silently, Miley and Nick both walked to Nick’s car, sharing a few glimpses and smiles here and there. Once they got there, Nick came to a halt, and said, “It’s not much. . .but I love this car.” The car was a dusty old mustang, probably decades old, and scratches appeared everywhere. However, Miley didn’t mind it. In fact, she liked the car a lot. Instead of focusing on the negativeness of the automobile, she fixed her eyes on the positive; the car could drive and make them reach their destination. “I actually like it,” She admitted, offering Nick a reassuring smile. “I’m glad you do,” Nick grinned back, his eyes glistening in joy at what Miley just admitted. The car meant a lot to him; it was one of his only valuable possessions. Ever since his older brother, Kevin, died from a cocaine overdose last year, his family started becoming a wreck. His dad, — who loved Kevin the most out of all four sons — turned into an alcoholic, spending all of his money on intoxicating beverages instead of supporting his family, and quit his job. His mom, — not being able to handle all of the family problems — focused on work, avoiding and ignoring any contact with Nick or her other children. Finally, Joe wasn’t able to deal with all the troubles either, so he left the house and bought his own home, not caring that he left Nick to take care of Frankie by himself. His mustang was one of the only things he could afford, and so he was quite grateful that
