Hi. I recently asked how I could jailbreak my ipod touch 2G and I followed the advice of some one who provided clear instructions with working links. Everything was going well until in the end an error caused everything to topple on itself but I luckily managed to save my Ipod. Below are the exact instructions this experienced person gave me.

This is a step by step guide on how to jailbreak ur 2nd gen ipod touch with firmware 2.2.1 on windows *make sure u have winrar installed in ur pc*.

-if u have windows vista this is how u install libusb

Right click on libusb installer, then select properties
Under compatibility tab, check execute this program in Windows XP service pack 2 and check execute as administrator

-go to the link below and download the following (libusb, c++ red, unofficialsn0w, firmware 2.2.1)
-install libusb
-install c++ red
-extract unofficialsn0w (exract it to ur desktop so it is easy to find)

-rename the 2.2.1 firmware that you’ve downloaded OriginalFW
-open the extracted unofficialsn0w folder and in it u will another folder called IPSW
-drag and drop OriginalFW in that folder.
-go back into the unofficialsn0w folder
-look for a FILE called IPSW
-there are two of them
-one of them should begin to jailbreak the OriginalFW
-it should take a while (just click on both of them until u hit the right one)
-once it is finished with the jailbreak
-open the IPSW FOLDER
-in it should be two firmwares. one called OriginalFW another called JB
-right click JB and open with winrar
-navigate your way to Firmware\all_flash\all_flash.n72ap.produ…
-once in there minimize it
-in the same IPSW FOLDER there is a file called
-LLB.n72ap.RELEASE.img3
-drag and drop “LLB.n72ap.RELEASE.img3″ into the minimized JB folder Firmware\all_flash\all_flash.n72ap.produ…
-now u can close everything
-plug in ur ipod
-place ur ipod into recovery (dfu) mode

how to place ipod into recovery mode

-while plugged in
-hold down the home button and count to 5
-(while holding down the home button) hold down the home button and count to 10
-now let go of the power button and keep ur finger on the home button until it goes into dfu mode
-note that this part is tricky and where a lot of ppl tend to go wrong
-if it does not go into dfu mode just try the procedure over again until it does.

-once ur ipod is in recovery (dfu) mode
-open itunes
-a window will pop up saaying ur ipood is recovery mode
-click ok
-open the unofficialsn0w FOLDER once more
-double click on a FILE called RUNME
-ur ipod screen should turn white
-this is very important ^^^
-now hold down the shift key on ur keyboard and left click restore
-(shift+left click restore)
-navigate ur way to the firmware called JB
-and click it then click ok
-ur ipod should begin to istall the jailbroken firmware with no problem.

OK so my problems occurred throughout the instructions but I managed to get past all of that until near the very last instruction. What happened then is that I put the correct firmware ISPW file into the ISPW folder and renamed it OriginalFW. Then I executed ispw.bat when the jailbreaking process occurred. Then I opened it with Winrar and replaced that LIB. file with the one specified in the ISPW folder. Now things got a little erroneous. I put my ipod successfully into DFU mode using the instructions he gave me. My ipod screen went blank and itunes said i’m in recovery mode so I pressed ok. Then iTunes said nothing will happen unless I restore (for jailbreaking this is with the JB ISPW file). Then I was told by instructions to execute the RUNME.exe file in the unofficials folder. I did and a cmd thing came up and told me to press any button. I was sooo pissed that it then said ‘Ipod not found.’ Now I am completely stuck. My Ipod was in recovery mode but I somehow managed to get it back to normal again. Can someone who has jailbroken their ipod/iphone via this method please please help me and tell me what I did wrong or what I could do to continue on from here. PLease!

i cant believe u typed this much.. nyways.. search on youtube for vids by wildta.. i jailbroke my itouch 2g on 2.2.1 using his vid.. it was damn too easy..
