Question by tdcg: what is the difference between getting charged with drug trafficking and intent to distribute?
a friend got pulled over got a DUI and intent to distribute
they found something like 12 -15 grams of cocaine and 13 ecstasy pills and a bottle of prescription medicine that his friend forgot in his car so now he is also charged with that .

he got denied from drug court and is now applying to recovery court.
any one can give me any info about what will happen?
hes 19 and has no previous crimes.

It has to do with the amount. Different states have different laws governing this. But it usually is possession (for a relatively small amount), possession with intent to distribute (for larger amounts), and trafficking (for very large amounts). Check the laws in your state for the varying amounts.

EDIT: In my state, it is 28 grams or more of cocaine or methamphetamine to be considered as “trafficking”.
