Why are they allowed to use “ignorance of the law” defense and American citizens are not?

Do you honestly believe these illegal aliens do not know they are breaking laws? Then why are they supposedly “hiding in the shadows”,and buying I.D’s on the streets?
Every illegal whio comes here or overstays, knows they are breaking laws. They use the ignorance of the law excuse when caught with fake and forged documents, when working and generally when they are caught doing anything.
