i am 28 and have a 8 year old son. i lost custody of him 3 years ago because of my drug addiction. his father was not in his life the first 3 years because of his own drug addiction. i got in trouble for drugs and that is when his father was awarded sole physical custody and we have joint legal i have since completed treatment 2 halfway houses and a 18 month drug court program and have been sober for almost 3 years have a home a job and am i full time student i want to go back for more visitation or 50/50 custody but i keep getting told that i have no chance of that or that it will be really hard to do i don’t understand why i couldn’t, has any had a experience like this or have any advice they could give me

you need to get real legal advice, call legal aide services in your county. It will be hard but worth it.
The key is proving you are mentally and emotionally stable, and a productive member of your community.
You will need to have some patience and emotional endurance, but if you have been through all you have been through and you came out the other side victorious then you already have those qualities, just hang in there and don’t let folks discourage you.
