How long to reverse effects of alcohol abuse?

Question by lalarain22: How long to reverse effects of alcohol abuse?
I have been drinking excessively for about 2 years and it’s really affected my hair and skin. Both have gotten dry and dull and unhealthy looking. There have also been a lot of psychological negative effects it has had such as depression among others. But I’ve decided to stop! And I was wondering if anyone could tell me how long it would take to reverse these negative effects!

Thank you!!

External physical effect, even effects to vital organs may reverse in approximately 7 years. The psychological addiction will never go away though. The depression was probably already there and you didn’t know if because you were drinking. You’ll need cognitive therapy, diet, and exercise to beat the depression. Antidepressants work great for people who suffer from some types of depression because it restores their serotonin and nor-epinephrine levels.

However, antidepressants are TERRIBLE for us ALCOHOLICS because they decrease our dopamine levels even further than we have decreased them ourselves with our drinking. You’ll just need the therapy, a support group, good diet, and lots of healthy sleep and exercise.
