Has anyone out there ever quit drinking who did not originally have a desire to stop?

Question by Brad B: Has anyone out there ever quit drinking who did not originally have a desire to stop?
My own enlightened self intrest tells me that I should stop drinking, but I don’t really have a desire to. It feels to me like being between a rock and a hard place. I’ve had several “bottoms” but none too deep down. Can I still stop drinking?
A stronghold, I have heard, is a mindset impregnated with hopelessness that causes me to accept as unchangable something that I know is contrary to the will of God.

If you REALLY want to stop, then you get help.
But apparently you know it is wrong, but you don’t want to stop.
My uncle drank A LOT. He was a really messed up alcoholic.
He knew he wouldn’t have a good life and a future and a family if he didn’t stop.
He stopped, and now has a happy family and wife and steady job.
But, once you stop, you won’t have even a drink of alcohol in your life again.
