Is consuming too much hot sauce bad for you??
Question by jenovag: Is consuming too much hot sauce bad for you??
I typically go through a 12 oz bottle of tabasco (very hot) and probably around 1-2 12oz bottles of crystals hot sauce (very mild) every 2-3 weeks. I’m pretty hardcore, I use it on just about everything, from pizza to salad.
Tabasco used to be very spicy for me but now i can hardly taste the spice, only the flavor. I know eating spicy foods can actually become an addiction because it releases endorphins in your brain.
I’m wondering though am i damaging my body from using too much hot sauce? Tabasco has only 30mg of sodium and 0 for everything else while Crystals has 135mg of sodium and 0 for everything else as well. What effects will too much sodium over long periods of time have on my body? I do not plan on reducing my intake anytime soon, but if there are any bad side effects, what symptoms or signs might appear? Are there any benefits or good qualities? I know vinegar is a main ingredient and that supposably is used to cleanse out the body perhaps?

no. consuming hot spicy foods is actually good for you. It raises metabolisim, boosts the immune system, aids in weight loss, and assists in healing stomache ulcers in small amounts.
I consume twice the amount you use and the sauces and peppers i eat are usually habanero and scotch bonnett, or peri peri peppers, delish!
I hate the cheap sauces because of the heavy vinegar taste. I like the heavier pureed pepper sauces much better like nandos, rhino, Daves insanity, melinda’s and lotties
