Shock Collar Users: I have a question for you?

Question by Show Breeders Sell Better Pups: Shock Collar Users: I have a question for you?
We’ve been contemplating the usage of a shock collar on my Australian Shepherd. Our two main problems are her barking at anything that moves, and her dumpster diving.

I was at a party tonight and my breeding mentor/boss (who has bred, owns, and shows Aussies for several years) said “Get a covered trashcan, Or get a shock collar and use it for multiple things.”

Now, I HAVE used a shock collar before. I used a small one on a maltese x bichon two summers ago and I did get results, so I know how they work and such, but we didn’t have that dog for very long, so I never got to see long-term effects on him.

So Shock Collar owners:
Would you say that your dogs are “better behaved”?
Do you think that it works for particularily stubborn dogs? I unleash the wrath of God on my dog when she picks stuff out of the garbage, but it doesn’t work! I would rather use a shock collar then continue what I do now.
Does your dog still mind you/follow the rules when the collar is off, or has it learned to only be “good” when the collar is on?

Before any bashers answer, don’t bother. You can write me a zillion emails and post as much as you want saying I’m abusing my dog, but I frankly don’t give a crap if you think shock collars are “abuse”. If you don’t like them, don’t use them.
Hey Fuzz, and batman, I HAVE tried them on myself. get your head out of your behind, for the love of God.

Shock collars are so inhumane, train your dog the right way. How would you like to be shocked in the neck? You shouldnt deserve a dog if you would shock him if he misbehaves, train it or give it to someone that would actually take care of it properly.
