Easy Horse Racing Handicapping Methods for Steady Profits

Easy Horse Racing Handicapping Methods for Steady Profits

A lot of people are trying to supplement their incomes by betting on horse races.  A lot of people are losing money they can ill afford to lose. Many of those people are looking for an easy horse racing handicapping method and wondering if one truly exists.

That is a complicated question, even though it is about an easy system for picking winners.  The problem is that what is easy for one person is hard for another.  For instance, some people might consider an easy system of picking winners to be sight handicapping.

Their method is to go to the saddling ring or paddock and to watch the horses as they are being saddled. They look at the contenders in the race according to the morning line odds.  From the top four horses in the morning line, they pick the one that looks the best.  If they can’t find one that stands out, looking better than the rest, then they pass on the race.

Of course the only problem with that handicapping method is that you have to be able to sight handicap and that is not easy for many people or even possible for the ones who bet from an OTB or in some other way and who do not attend the track. Sight handicapping is a good method for a few who develop the skill, but it takes a lot of practice looking at horses to know which ones are on the muscle and show some determination.

Another method that appears easy at first, is watching the actual pools and seeing how the money is disbursed, looking for overlays.  There are toteboard watchers who successfully make money betting on horses, but it is a skill that requires iron nerves and a fast mind to make the calculations and get a bet down in time.

Once again, it is a skill that must be developed.  So in truth, while there are methods that seem easy they do require practice.  No one is going to sell you an easy handicapping method that really makes a profit because if they had an easy way to make money they would keep it for themselves.  On the other hand, there are simple methods of handicapping horse races that, when practiced and applied correctly, can show some profits.

These horse racing handicapping methods are simple, meaning they have just a few factors or steps, but they still require effort and decision making on your part and that isn’t always easy.  There is a difference between simple and easy.  Here is an example of what I mean.

It is simple to dig a ditch.  You just take a shovel and start unearthing the dirt, one shovel full at a time until you have the desired ditch.  It is simple, but not easy.  You will work up a sweat and have to use your muscles.  Some things that requires just a few steps, like putting on your shoes, are easy, but when you are competing against thousands of people for a money prize, you will rarely find it easy to beat them.  On the other hand, using statistics or inside information, it may only take a little edge to win.

The best and simplest handicapping systems and methods do just that, they use an edge or statistic that the crowd doesn’t know about, but it is up to you to find that situation by looking for it, by digging sometimes, and that requires effort and sometimes skill.  Just one piece of information that you have may beat the crowd in the long run, but you have to apply it.  Simple, but not easy.

The most consistent horse racing systems have to have the basics and a handicapper must understand the basics. I have been around horse racing for 50 years including as an owner. Without the basics the rest is not going to do any good. If you want to learn how a horse owner and insider handicaps just go to http://williewins.homestead.com/truecb.html and get the truth.
