How to ask your doctor for a prescription without sounding “drug seeking”?
Question by Bride-2-Be: How to ask your doctor for a prescription without sounding “drug seeking”?
I want to try an antidepressant and am nervous to talk to my doctor about it. I recently moved and am not established with a doctor—I have my first appointment with someone after the New Year. I’m afraid that I will look drug-seeking since she doesn’t know me well. What do I say? How do I approach the topic?
***please no counseling me. If you don’t have suggestions for me, please move on.

A doctor will almost certainly have no trouble prescribing you an anti-depressant if you ask for one because they are not addictive and have no potential for abuse, especially if you are having symptoms of depression. You should have no problem getting anti-depressants from your doctor.
Personally, I would be glad if one of my future patients trusted me enough to tell me about a problem like this and proud of them for getting help with it.
