HELP!!! “A disk read error occured” what do I do?

Question by mikecaster_86: HELP!!! “A disk read error occured” what do I do?
I have a Windows Vista, and I recently attempted to do a system recovery on an Acer computer through its Acer “system restore,” but when it got to a certain area during the process it had an error and forced a shutdown.
Now it states “A disk read error occured press Ctr+Alt+Del to restart.” I do, it restarts and gets me back to that error message again.
I’ve looked over the web for solutions, but some don’t work or I can’t do! I need help, please!
I don’t have a Vista disk, and I can’t use command prompt or any programs because the error pops up right after the computer turns on.
I have no Vista Disk.
I cannot use any program such as command prompt.
It’s just a big black screen with that error written at the bottom.
I’m good with bad luck. I can’t order any boot disks or burn a cd on my windows me I’m using now. I don’t know if there’s anything to do.

Boot your computer with the Vista disk and use the System Recovery Options > Startup Repair. See if that fixes it.

Or you can select command prompt and type CHKDSK /R. Hit enter.

Well, you can use this to boot your PC and then run CHKDSK from it:
