Question by depressed: need information if anyone knows if a doctor can be sued for disrespecting you?
i was going to a doctor for drug abuse treatment. he put me on suboxone. then i was told by law i had to see a psychiatric dr. the dr. turned out to be his brother. the psychiatrist told me i didn’t need his help, that he would call his brother and tell him i needed to be put on pain medication. the next day i was put on poana. for 2 month’s i took the opana, then when i went back last thursday the pain dr. said he could get into trouble for giving me opana,so he took me straight off and put me on codeine for 3 day’s.then put me back on suboxone. today when i went to get my refill of suboxone the nurse went in another room and told the dr. i was taking more suboxone than he prescribed. when he came into the room the dr. said this paitent is not following orders i am not helping her and made me leave. i followed all his directions now i am left with nothing. can anyone help with this question. thanks

I recommend you talk to the hospital’s patient advocate. Or if you go to a clinic, ask them to provide you with the number for the Joint Commission (sometimes referred to as JCAHO). The Joint Commission is the regulatory board in charge or accrediting healthcare organizations. They also maintain a customer complaint line. If you file a complaint with the Joint Commission the healthcare provider will be forced to respond. However, unless they’ve violated law or policy there will be no consequence.
