I want to become a police officer, or DEA agent, where do I start?

Question by sypher88: I want to become a police officer, or DEA agent, where do I start?
Well here is my story. For ten years I was a hardcore drug addict to heroin, I knew the streets like a hoodlum. About 2 years ago I decided to get my life together and attended an in-patient drug rehabilitation program. I have been clean since.

I decided the best way to give back to the community for my previous addiction and horrible lifestyle, is to serve my city as a police officer, or join the DEA. I figured this would be a good career because experience is the best degree of all, wouldn’t you say?

I have no felony convictions from my previous problems, but some misdemeanor charges. Is it still possible to become a police officer?

I doubt it. Any kind of record will go against you. Experience is good, but you have to be completely clean to become a police officer. However, you can still help in the community. You may not get paid to do so, but at least you can help others.
