Ok Here goes, I am currently in an alcohol and drug recovery program. I have made a lot mistakes in my life through alcohol and drug abuse. I have ruined a good career because I do not have a driver’s license, although I am working on getting them back. I still have a few months to go in my recovery program and I am reaalizing alot about myself and my tendencies. I really feel like I will be able to kick this dependency and get on with my life. However, through my addictions I have basically lost everything in my life. So I am going to be starting over. I am 40 years old. I guess what I am asking is, if you met a guy like this who you would normally be attracted to how would this info affect your decision making. Previously I have dated many women but have only been in love once in my life and I blew that through my addictions. I wonder if there is a realistic chance in the future. I know this question sounds wierd..but I really just want subjective opinions from women only.

You’re definitely damaged goods. Keep up the program, because that’s the only thing that will save you. You might meet someone through the program because there could be a nice woman in the same situation you’re in. Another suggestion is to go to church. Many churches have special meetings for people in recovery. I think those would be your best bets. Never give up. Never lose hope.
