I want to be able to work in an addiction treatment center. Can anybody give me information?

I want to know where I could go and whom to contact. I really want to help people who are struggling with their drug/alcohol addiction. I know that there are courses that I can take up so that I may be able to do this. Can anybody help? I live in New York, btw.
