Can I now reformat my “Windows Recovery” hard drive if I’ve installed Windows Vista on my HP media Center PC?
Question by Jay: Can I now reformat my “Windows Recovery” hard drive if I’ve installed Windows Vista on my HP media Center PC?
My HP Media Center PC m7457c came standard with not only it’s main hard drive (C:) but also a small 8 gig recovery hard drive (D:). My old system being XP, of course I upgraded to Vista. My Question is, “Can I delete the contents on that drive now that I’m upgraded to the new Vista system, without dealing with problems in the future if i were to have a system crash?. Keep in mind I have, yet, the Recovery CD(s) made from the old system (XP) Thank You for your time

I’m thinking that once you delete the XP operating system, you are on your own. It’s Vista or nothing. Can you burn a recovery CD disk from the D: drive, and store the recovery info there? I had a problem with this in the opposite direction. Most notebook computers these days come with Vista installed, but some of our business software is not yet compatible with Vista. So I erased Vista and tried to install XP, which was not successful. Not much help here, but good luck.
