Teen Drinking: What can be done to improve alcohol education?
Alcohol abuse, especially underage, seems to be a huge issue in our society that struggles to be effectively addressed. Many high schools have policies to address the use of drugs and alcohol, but none of them seem to be effective. Kids are still drinking more then ever, regardless of consequences and punishments. I understand that abstinence of alcohol is not the answer for everyone, especially the majority, but there must be some way to teach responsible drinking, and that there is a difference between moderation and abuse.
What are good solutions to help our youth? If caught underage, should a school penalize them from a sports team or other extracurricular activities? Should they do community service? Should they talk to a counselor? Could we create an education program that sends a different message about alcohol other then, “Alcohol is bad!”
What are your feelings about alcohol in our society today?
Thank you in advance for all opinions 🙂
